Kate and Asa's Story

Kate and Asa met on November 2nd, 2024 at Asa’s house in Athens, GA at a “Pasta Party” the night before the Athens Half Marathon. They talked for a little while that night when their mutual friend Ben Espy came over and said “Kate and Asa! I knew you guys would get along SO well! You two have fun…” Kate looked for her next exit from the kitchen (feeling the awkwardness of the situation) but thought about Asa that night and all 13 miles the next day, wondering if he was ahead of her or behind her in the race (he was behind). They talked after the race for a while before Kate drove back to Atlanta with her friends.&nbsp; Asa called his friend Ivey that night and told him about Kate but decided not to ask her out because she was moving to Washington D.C in a few weeks. He couldn’t stop thinking about her and after a large amount of prayer, conversations with friends (and his mom), he decided to go for it and called her 13 days later to ask her on a first date.&nbsp; Their first date went overtime - as did all the rest. After a few weeks, Asa and Kate decided they wanted to do long distance and meet each other’s families. Kate moved to D.C., and Asa flew up to see her the very next weekend. They never went longer than 13 days without seeing each other while Kate lived in D.C.&nbsp; Asa asked Kate’s father for the blessing, bought a diamond ring, and planned a time to pop the question. He flew up to D.C. ready and excited to ask Kate to marry him. The morning of April 12th, Asa took Kate on a walk around the Washington monument and proposed in a wooded area by the Tidal Basin. She of course said yes! (praise God).&nbsp; Kate moved back to Atlanta to be closer to Asa on May 7th (the best birthday gift he could ask for).&nbsp; It has been an amazing adventure getting to know, love and pursue each other, marked by joy, grace, affirmation and total adventure, and we are beyond excited to be married to one another!
